At Tesco, community is key to our purpose. We recognise that young people are the future of our communities, which is why our grants are focused on supporting children and young people, ranging from improving school facilities to providing vital services in the local community.

By helping children thrive in their early years, we can ensure they build a solid foundation for life. We believe this will help make communities stronger too.

Tesco Stronger Starts is open to all schools, registered charities and not-for-profit organisations that support children and young people.

Examples of eligible applications include:

  • Supporting a local youth sports club to purchase equipment
  • Contributing towards costs of a summer play scheme
  • Helping young people develop skills and employment prospects
  • A project that supports a uniform clothes bank
  • Mother and toddler groups
  • Funding towards a youth club
  • Project that supports a youth choir
  • Project that supports a children’s hospice
  • Emotional and mental health support for children
  • Buying equipment for outdoor or indoor activities
  • Schools developing a food growing area

Tesco colleagues in each store will help select those needing a little help in your local area and when our customers are given a blue token, in any of our Tesco stores at the checkout, they can vote for their favourite children’s and young people’s group to receive a grant.

Community charity Groundwork manages this website and administers the funding across the UK. Groundwork is working with greenspace scotland to support successful projects in Scotland.
